Mologic, founded in 2003, is a growing technology company, providing in-house technology development as well as contract research and development. Our expertise is currently applied to a number of clinical areas, including wound care; women’s health and oncology.
Wound Care is one of the key areas of research at Mologic . The management of chronic wounds is a global issue, costing health care services billions of pounds per annum. Wound diagnostic indicators will provide aids to facilitate de-skilled assessment, allowing appropriate ongoing treatment. Mologic has POC diagnostics programme which is well advanced. We are also expanding this research to look for indicators of wound infection.
We have vacancies for an experienced scientist and a new graduate, to work on a wound biology programme looking at host and microbial markers of infection in fluid taken from chronic wounds.

Experienced Scientist
The work will involve isolation of organisms from samples and assay of the wound fluid for known and novel biomarkers. Techniques will include standard microbiology for isolation and identification of microbial species, PCR, ELISA and enzyme assays and assay development. The successful candidate will have experience of all or some of these and a good track record of research achievement.
Development of new or modified methods will be required for this success of this project. Safe working practice, good analytical ability and record keeping is essential.
Other requirements
Understanding of immune system components and mechanisms.
Familiarity with Microsoft office programmes, good formal and informal presentation skills.
New Graduate
A good degree in Biological sciences, willingness to learn new techniques and to work as part of a team. Good communication (written and verbal) and computer skills. Evidence of careful working and practical skills will be required.
Additional laboratory experience is an advantage.
The project has been running a short time and is scheduled to last for 18 months. Recruitment is on a temporary basis in the first instance, with the intension of becoming permanent if appropriate.
Team members may expect to travel within the UK from time to time for project meetings and training.
