ITI CHronic wound care programme

Mologic is pleased to announce that it has been engaged as leading R&D provider of ITI Techmedia's Chronic Wound Care programme.

This programme aims to achieve the following:

- Reduction in time taken to heal chronic wounds.
- Increase the quality of life for patients.
- Minimise the incidence of serious wound infection.
- Reduce the incident of lower limb amputation.

Methods of wound healing status diagnosis have not changed for centuries, relying mostly on visual inspection of wounds by a clinician. Objective qualitative and quantitative data is not usually available at the point of care. As a result, a sample of wound exudate is taken and sent to a central laboratory. This results in a delay of a few days in using that information to make an informed decision.

Mologic has been assigned to utilise its expertise and depth of knowledge in the area of Diagnostics and Wound Care to develop a technology platform that will enable the creation of an easy-to-use, point of care diagnostic that will detect early stage infection in diabetic foot ulcers. This will drastically ease the decision process of the care worker in making quick and informed decisions to decide the best course of treatment for their patient, thus delivering the very best standard of care.
Keith Harding, is Project Adviser, alongside Mr Stuart Baird at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Other R&D Providers are: D3 Technologies Ltd. and Edinburgh University Division for Pathway Medicine.
